Embark on an 8-day exotic biking tour through the lunar landscape of the High Atlas Mountains, the lovely palm oases of the Drâa Valley, and the authentic fortified villages and Kasbahs. This journey begins and ends in the imperial city of Marrakech, offering a wonderful adventure for cycling enthusiasts.
Welcome to Morocco! Arrive at Marrakech Airport, where we will meet you and transfer you to your hotel or Riad. Check-in and join us for a trip briefing. Depending on your arrival time, we will take a city tour to visit the Medina of Marrakech, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring a maze of shops and stalls selling succulent traditional food and exquisite handicrafts. After our explorations, enjoy dinner at a restaurant near Jemaa El-Fna Square.

This morning, we leave Marrakech early and head to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou, an ancient fortified community and trading post with pre-Saharan earthen architecture dating back to the 17th century. We drive via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass to Telouet, where we start our mountain biking adventure. Stop to visit the Glaoui Kasbah of Telouet, the home and stronghold of Thami El Glaoui, the Lord of the Atlas during the French occupation. From Telouet, ride through scenic Berber villages and the Ounila Valley. Wind your way to the stunning Kasbah village of Ait Benhaddou and stay the night in one of the many riads.

We rise early today to ride the most exhilarating leg of our biking expedition. Leaving Ait Benhaddou behind, we transfer for 90 minutes, stopping to visit an ancient troglodyte settlement. Start riding from Kalaat M’gouna on dirt roads, likely seeing nomads tending their flocks as we make our way to Dades Gorges. Our route will take us by dozens of Kasbahs, built by the Berbers as defenses, perched on the cliffs. We will also come across Berbers living in caves handed down for generations. If invited, we’ll stop for mint tea and learn more about their culture. End the day in the stunning valley at a Riad or hotel.

Cycle to the Berber oasis town of N’kob. This scenic route snakes through the Dades Valley as we make our way to the middle of Jbel Saghro. Climb to cross Tizi n’Tzazert Pass (2,200 m) or get a lift up to the top, enjoying panoramic views in every direction. Rest your legs before cruising downhill to the lush Berber oasis town of N’kob, which abounds with palm plantations. Spend the night with dinner in a guest house.

Continue our bike exploration of the Moroccan desert, riding to the lush date palm groves of the Draa Valley – the largest date palm groves in Morocco. Follow local dirt tracks into the heart of the oasis to explore the palm groves and small Berber villages along the Draa River. Spend the night with a local Berber family.

After breakfast, drive to explore the beauty of the Draa Valley. Transfer for 25 minutes to Ait Saoun, where we start riding for 30 km through one of the most scenic valleys of Morocco. Pass traditional villages lying in green oases. After lunch, transfer back to Marrakech via the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass. At 2,260 m above sea level, it is often listed as one of the most beautiful roads in the world. Spend the night with breakfast at the hotel or Riad.

Enjoy a bike-free day to explore Marrakech, the Southern Pearl of Morocco, and learn about the city’s rich history and culture. Visit the Palace of Bahia, the Saadian Tombs, the Koutoubia Mosque, and Djemaa el-Fna Square. Explore the souk (market), filled with spices, Berber carpets, ceramics, leather goods, and food stalls. Lunch is on your own, but we will meet up for a farewell dinner to reminisce about our magical time in Morocco.

Transfer to Marrakech International Airport for your return flight, leaving with plenty of tales of Arabian and Berber days and nights.
